It was a hot day and the sun was making dramatic shadows. I was intent on capturing the strong contrast between the bushes, their shadows and the sun reflecting on the water. As I was facing the sun, the horseflies and deerflies were buzzing around my head. This proves to be a slight distraction. I could tell when I was finished with this sketch….when I started to feel dizzy from the loss of blood.
