I did this sketch while roaming the mountains near my home. It was early May and the aspens had just produced their new vivid green foliage. This shade of green always fills me with a growing sense of optimism after spending the long winter starved of color. The foothills gradually change from gray to wispy light green then all of a sudden, almost overnight, there is this blast of aspen leaves. This grove is on the edge of a mountain ridge that over looks a vista; the trees and mountains off in the distance.
